SINGAPORE — Entropica Labs, a Singapore-based quantum computing startup, has raised $2.6 million Singapore dollars ($1.8 million) in seed funding led by deep-tech venture capital Elev8.

According to a statement, Entropica will use the fresh funding to expand its technical team and develop proprietary software architecture based on quantum technology.

The round was joined by SGInnovate, Wavemaker Partners, Lim Teck Lee Group, V1 Capital, Entrepreneur First and Japanese system integrator TIS.

Founded in 2018 by Tommaso Demarie, Ewan Munro and Joaquin Keller, Entropica wants to make quantum computing more accessible for enterprise customers.

Entropica has developed a software roadmap that allows developers and users to build and experiment with quantum computing workflows. The deep-tech company has partnered with leading quantum hardware manufacturers such as Rigetti Computing, IBM and Microsoft to develop and test software on their platforms.

“We are at the cusp of massive gains in technology, powered by quantum computing,” said Aditya Mathur, managing director at Elev8, in a statement. “Entropica Labs’ talented team is building the operating interface that allows programmers to work efficiently on quantum machines.”

Entropica is a spinoff of Singapore’s Centre for Quantum Technologies at the National University of Singapore, where two of the startup’s co-founders, Demarie and Munro, were faculty members.

The founders collectively have over 30 years of research and work experience in quantum and classical computing technologies.
